Te Kāpehu Auaha Wānanga
Te Kāpehu Auaha wānanga is a Māori-led creative activation space designed to strengthen collective kōrero for teams, groups & communities.
Our first reo innovation wānanga is supported by Te Mātāwai and held at Te Whaanga Retreat & Spa in Whaingaroa, NZ. This curated wānanga is to strengthen the use of te reo Māori and tikanga in innovative kaupapa for reo-capable creatives and content makers.
This is a new way for kaupapa kōrero under the guiding philosophy of Te Kāpehu Auaha to innovate and create.
TE KĀPEHU AUAHA
Our wānanga are guided by the philosophy of Te Kāpehu Auaha.
TOHU
Taking note of the signs, inspirations, ideas and people.
TAIAO
Connecting to the world around us.
TAONGA
Creating with care and meaning.
Held beside the moana, the wānanga intentionally creates space for mauri tau — time to settle, connect, kōrero and think without the usual pressure to produce. Te Kāpehu Auaha becomes the creative compass participants can carry from that space back into their own mahi.
A TABLE 1 COLLECTIVE
The Reo Innovation wānanga brings together a curated cohort of kaiauaha already making work — and ready to push te reo Māori further into the ideas, formats, audiences and worlds we create.
For two days, we step away from the deadlines, deliverables and constant pace of our industry. We slow things down, reset, reconnect and make space to think differently — with each other, with te reo Māori and with the things that make us curious about our mahi.
This kaupapa is for people who already create — stories, screens, campaigns, kaupapa, digital worlds, live work, social content and ideas. We’re here to explore what becomes possible when te reo Māori is given more space to lead.
Te Taiao, Te Oranga
Te Whaanga reflects the heart of Te Kāpehu Auaha. It's important to us that our wānanga gives people and the kaupapa a good space to attune to.
Our goal is to create a beautiful, safe and generous environment where people can share what they know, bring forward new ideas, use their reo, and develop those ideas together.
